Kimia Life Cycle Facial

Happy post-Valentine's Day! How did your valentine's day went? Hope it was a great one be it whether you're attached or single. For the singles, Valentine's Day is not just for couples, it is also a love yourself day. You should pamper yourself with luxurious facial, spa or even a hair treatment!

This year, I went for a Kimia Life Cycle Facial over at Renaza. As Kimia Life Cycle Facial is only available at UK Medicial Aesthetic Spa, Palais Renaisance, I headed there straight after work.

Palais Renaisance is also the place where David Gan's salon is. I always pass by his salon, this time round because I was going for my facial and the last time when I was there to collect my Air Optix contact lens.

I was given a form to fill up my particulars before I was brought into the treatment room. Even before reaching the treatment room, I was given a pair of slipper to change into.

Over at the treatment room, I was given a tube wrap to change into.

There was also a locker for you to keep your belongings and you could slip the key onto your wrist as there's a wristband attached!

The facial started with a breathing session which I thought was a little different from the other facials that I have been to. It was really relaxing by the way. After that, my therapist removed my makeup throughoutly and followed up with a peel. Strangely, I didn't feel any tingling sensation during the peel unlike other facials. Probably the peel was rather mild.

After that, my therapist did some extraction (thank godness that was bearable!) and followed up with a cold mask and a pampering shoulder massage (just what i needed especially when it's mid week at work). She also trimmed my eyebrows slightly as I have just gotten them trimmed a few days ago.

My therapist commented that my complexion is rather good with no scars and that the condition of my skin is not bad except for my syringoma. My syringoma has been bothering me all these while. It used to be worse before I had them lasered off in 2006. But now they are coming back again. ): I really don't know what to do about it anymore. I consulted a dermalogist the other time and her advice was to laser it off bit by bit when it grows out again. But the thing is - whenever you do laser treatment, you'll have to stay indoors and not go under the sun for at least 10 days. How many 10 days can I afford in a year to do my laser op? And it doesn't last forever, at most about 2-3 years and it comes back again. Plus, after laser, the patch of skin would be lighter in color as compared to the rest of the face and that is another worry. Sighs. Hopefully there will be medical advancements soon and that they will find a long-term cure for syringoma soon!

My skin has been very dry lately (blame that on staying in an air-conditioned place for almost 8-10hours daily), it is till the extent where my forehead gets itchy because the skin there is peeling. When I asked my therapist on how should I rectify that, whether if I should apply cream based products instead, she said that I shouldn't because the outer layer of my skin is dry but the inner layer is oily. Hence, applying cream products won't rectify that.

The Kimia Life Cycle facial that I did was for combination skin.

Here's a picture of me right after the facial with no makeup. Hope that I won't scare you off.

Its not too red or many scars right? Thank godness!! Normally, there would be a lot of scars and that would look so ugly. That is also the reason why I don't go for facials on a regular basis.

My complexion looked more even and I even went shopping around Orchard Road bare-faced!

They even have a makeup room for you to touch up after the facial!

If you can afford to, I say it is best to leave ur face bare after a facial so that you won't clog up your pores again.

Here's are some tips and knowledge on skincare which my therapist shared with me upon knowing about some of my beauty woes.

1) Avoid whitening products when your skin is sensitive or when you are having pimples as whitening products usually contain Vitamin C which can be too rich and it may aggravate the condition. Instead, use hydrating mask eg. aloe vera.

2) Hydrating masks can be used daily while whitening mask should only be used maximum once or twice a week.

3) For sensitive and dry skin, use cleansing milk to remove your makeup and cleansing milk again to cleanse your face.

4) To reduce whiteheads, scrub face twice a week after double cleansing. Using a scrub helps to exfoliate and remove dead skin which enables easier absorption of products applied on the face.
